Hunter's Cauldron

On Saturday, October 5th, as part of the 27th edition of the fair, there will be a competition among hunting associations in preparing hunting stew, with prizes worth at least 1,000 €.

Gather a team of at least 3 and up to 5 members and show us your culinary skills!

Valuable prizes are provided for the best teams:

  1. 1st place: 600 €
  2. 2nd place: 300 €
  3. 3rd place: 100 €

COMPETITION RULES FOR PREPARING
HUNTING STEW – 5.10.2024.

1.

The competition for preparing hunting stew is organized as part of the 27th International Fair “Nature, Hunting, Fishing, Tourism”.

2.

The competition is for teams, and only members of hunting associations are eligible to participate. Each association can register a maximum of two teams.
Each team consists of a minimum of three and a maximum of five members.
The name and contact information of the team captain must be provided in the registration.

The competition takes place in Varaždin at the Fairgrounds on Saturday, 05.10.2024.
Participants must report to the competition info point (outdoor area) by 09:30.

4.

Participants will prepare hunting stew from game meat of their choice.
All necessary ingredients, utensils, and equipment (including a pot, burner, and gas bottle) are provided by the participants.
The dish is prepared in a pot (minimum capacity of 5 liters) over an open flame.
It is allowed to marinate the meat in advance and bring strained broth.

Participants must be at the cooking area by 10:00.
After the inspection of ingredients and prepared items by the judging panel, participants can begin preparing their dish.
The dish must be ready by 14:00, at which time approximately 1 liter of the stew will be taken as a sample for the judging panel.

The judging panel is appointed by the Fair organizers.
Each member of the judging panel will score the prepared dish on a scale of 1-10 for the criteria: Appearance, Consistency, and Texture, and a scale of 1-20 for the criterion of Taste.
The maximum number of points a team can receive is 50.

7.

Based on the total number of points earned, the following cash prizes will be awarded: 600.00 € for first place, 300.00 € for second place, and 100.00 € for third place.
If two or more dishes finishing in the top three positions have the same number of points, the judging panel will conduct additional evaluations to determine the ranking.
The decision of the judging panel is final.
The organizer will also award a special prize for the team with the best overall impression (workspace arrangement, team atmosphere, number of supporters, etc.).

8.

The competition results will be announced at 15:30.


Registrations for the hunting stew competition are closed, with 20 teams registered from Croatia and Slovenia.
