The 27th International Fair is Open

The 27th International Fair Nature, Hunting, Fishing, and Tourism was officially opened today at the Varaždin Arena.

This fair is Croatia’s oldest specialized event in the field of hunting and fishing, and this year it hosts about 80 exhibitors from Croatia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovenia, and Slovakia.

Speaking on behalf of the organizers, Fair Director Maja Šimenc from DMK Vall 042 emphasized the satisfaction with the growing interest from exhibitors. She noted that the fair continues to grow, especially in the hunting equipment segment, with the arrival of new exhibitors and the return of those who had been absent for a few years.

The co-organizers of this year’s fair are the Croatian Hunting Association and the Croatian Sports Fishing Association, whose representatives welcomed visitors and wished them a pleasant experience at the fair.

Greetings were also delivered by Renata Ojurović, Head of the Forestry, Hunting, and Wood Industry Directorate at the Ministry of Agriculture; Lovro Lukavečki, President of Varaždin City Council; and Anđelko Stričak, Prefect of Varaždin County. They highlighted the role of hunters and anglers in nature conservation and biodiversity preservation, as well as the fair's importance in promoting their activities.

The fair was officially opened by Darko Koren, Prefect of Koprivnica-Križevci County, this year’s partner county.

A traditional attraction of the fair is the rich diorama by the Croatian Hunting Museum, showcasing taxidermied animals from Croatian regions with a focus on wetlands. Visitors can also explore live birds displayed by the Croatian Falconry Club, a mushroom exhibit featuring over 100 species by the Mushroom Society Smrčak from Čakovec, a bonsai tree exhibition by the Northwest Bonsai Association, and Josip Horvat’s photography exhibit showcasing 70 species of freshwater fish from local rivers.

The 27th Fair is open on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and on Sunday, the final day, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Ticket prices are €5 for adults and €3 for students and retirees.
